Dear Friends and Neighbors
I want to thank the 55% of residents in Senate District 4 for voting for me in the primary election. Without my constituents and supporters this tremendous win would not have been possible. I hope to continue to have your support as we enter into the general election this November.
During these trying times, we need leaders with integrity and experience to bring about change in our State. During my six years in the Michigan House of Representatives I prided myself on being a true employee of the people within our community. I sat beside you in neighborhood meetings, listened to your concerns and went to Lansing determined to bring about solutions. I will devote that same tenacity, dedication and sincerity to our State’s 4th District residents as Senator. It is my mission to serve not only you, but the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan as a whole. I will work to offer relief to those who find themselves in challenging circumstances, increase our State’s economic revenue and restore trust in our City’s and State’s public servants. I will strive to build community partnerships and relationships that improve our quality of life and make our neighborhoods safe again. I will include our community in the governmental process by providing consistent and accurate information about the happenings in Lansing.

We witnessed an incredible grassroots movement sweep across our great Nation in 2008 that led to the election of our first African-American President; speaking to the honest truth in the statement that “every contribution counts, no matter how large or small…” I need you to accomplish our goals collectively, and look forward to working for you once I am elected as your next Democratic Senator.
